  • Minutes from the Spring 2009 meeting were reviewed and approved
  • A discussion was held regarding the addition of two new teams, The Plantation Course at Edisto and Charleston National. These were considered separately. It was decided not to invite Edisto to join because of the distance to the course. All agreed that it was a good course but most directors were concerned that their team would not drive that far. There was also concern for the Edisto players having to drive to our courses. A discussion regarding Charleston National resulted in a vote to add this club for 2010 providing we can agree to a date and get a commitment from Charleston National that they can provide an adequate number of players. Steve Windich will discuss this with Charleston National
  • A schedule for 2010 was presented by Ken Ward including a date for Charleston National, but this date was for illustrative purposes only. The actual date is to be determined. If we add Charleston National we will have 14 matches in 2010 and we will reduce the number of players per match to 9 with 8 scores counting. If we do not add Charleston National we will revert to the old schedule and number of players. The only date in question on the schedule was for Crowfield as it was felt that July 5th will conflict with the July 4th weekend. (This has now been changed and confirmed to July 12th)
  • Al Byrd made a motion that was carried to have the foursomes include an A,B,C, and D player. The feeling was that this might speed up play and also help to enforce people to follow USGA rules. Each club will be advised to do this next year. Players will be reminded at each match that we follow USGA rules. People will be asked not to sign a card if the player has broken an obvious rule that would result in a penalty. An example is incorrectly dropping a ball when the original has been lost or out of bounds.
  • Steve Windich reported that our current balance is approximately $2600. It was explained that we can give $2500 to our charity and have our cook out at Stono or we can give $3000 to charity and eliminate the cook out. It was decided to give $2500 and retain the cook out.
  • A motion was made and approved to give the Crisis Ministries a check for $2500 at our Rivertowne match. Phil Bees will be requested to produce a large check for presentation. Terry Newman will arrange for the people from Crisis Ministries to be present.
  • Ken Ward gave out the documents for 2010 for review. These were accepted with slight revisions and may have to be revised based on what happens with Charleston National.
  • Election of Officers for 2010 took place. All Officers were re-elected.
  • A discussion took place regarding shingling and checking scorecards at the end of each match. It was reinforced that the host Director and another from his club would assist Al Byrd and Ken Ward. Steve Windich will collect the information at the end of each match if he is available so that he can produce our match report.
  • Meeting adjourned.
