CHARLESTON AREA MEN’S INTERCLUB GOLF ASSOCIATION
SPRING BOARD MEETING MINUTES
MARCH 27, 2007

Present: Steve Windich, Dick Gemmett, Ridge Britton, Al Byrd, Roger Schroeder, Terry Newman, Jack Heidenreich, Randy McDaniel, Phil Bees, Jim Delaney, Darrell Verdeck, Ken Ward

Absent: Jim Lamm, J.C. Gaillard

The minutes of the Fall Meeting were reviewed with no changes.

Al Byrd gave the Handicap Chairman’s Report and once again stressed the need to fill out scorecards properly. It was decided that Al will send cards that are not completed properly to the appropriate Director after he is through with them. The Director has the responsibility of discussing it with the player involved. It should be emphasized to the players that they sign their own scorecards and are ultimately responsible for it being completed properly. A sample of a properly completed scorecard will be put on the Website for review by all players. It was agreed that no teammates should be allowed to keep each other’s score.

Dick Gemmett gave the Treasurer’s report. We are currently about $1300 short of what we had last year at this time. The main reason is we have had two cook-outs already this year and last year we did receive money back from Stono Ferry as compensation for not providing enough food at the 2006 cook-out.

Ridge Britton presented the Tournament Chairman’s Report and gave out the new updated schedule. One correction to this schedule is Shadowmoss is now July 30 and not August 6th as written. There was concern after the Miler situation that we are not getting the signed contracts back from all of  the pros at the various clubs. It was agreed that next year Ridge will contact the Director if the signed contract has not been received and the Director will make sure that it is signed. In the case of Miler, it was decided that in future we will send all of the material directly to the club so that we can avoid any conflicts in dates.

After a good discussion the Directors decided on the Charities for 2007. If we are in a position to pay at least $2,000 we will split it between Meals on Wheels and Darkness to Light. If we cannot pay at least $2,000 then we will pay whatever we can afford to Meals on Wheels. Five worthy charities were considered this year and it was good to be able to have a discussion to determine the relative merits of each Charity.

Directors were reminded that if they wish to play at any of the member courses for cart fee only, they must book it through the appropriate Director.
